8ft faces newsletter

Friday January 9, 2009

looking back....

It’s been a great year at 8ft faces and we’d like to take a moment to thank our clients and collaborators by profiling a few of the projects that kept us busy. We had a number of new projects that took us from the studio to the Caribbean to Central America and across North America. From shark diving to war plane aerobatics, surfing to skiing, studios to lifestyles; the past year has been an adventure and produced some amazing results.

“Howie Do It”

Premiering on January 9th, 2009 on NBC (USA) and Global (CDN), “Howie Do It” is Howie Mandel’s hilarious new spin on reality TV.

8ft faces collaborated on the production as an associate producer and a photographer on set. Be prepared - everything is not as it seems in this hilarious new show.

“Submerged” at the Isabella Egan Gallery

Main Content Inline Small

“Submerged” is a new series of water-based images by Jordan Junck. The Isabella Egan gallery in Vancouver hosted the first exhibit for the series. The images were created with underwater housings, underwater strobes and surface lighting. The results were “serene” and “otherworldly” as figures floated silently, submerged.

The exhibit and pieces were very well received with reviews in multiple papers and magazines as well as an appearance and profile on City TV. Sales were brisk including one of the pieces going to the ICA Boston’s private collection. The exhibit is scheduled to show in Toronto’s Contact Festival at the Arta Gallery in May 2009. To view images from the series go to www.jordanjunck.com and check out “submerged”

The creative team behind that made the shoot possible did a great job, thanks to stylist Tracy Dow, make up artists Sara Appleby and Danielle West, and to the models and friends who helped make the project possible.

Collaboration in Cuba

Main Content Inline Small

While working in Cuba this past winter 8ft faces had a unique opportunity to collaborate with 2 emerging Cuban photographers and one of Cuba’s most prominent photographers.

We shot a class of children at a public pool in a small town. The energy and excitement was contagious as we created a number of images and portraits that were given back to the children.

This project has fostered new ideas and similar projects along the same tangent. Currently we are developing a photography workshop that enables underprivileged youth in developing countries to explore photography.
